Prewitt Pageant!

Every Year, Prewitt Dorm puts on a prewitt Pageant that is only for the women in Prewitt. Last Thursday was Prewitt Pageant. There are several events at the pageant, but the main one is the talent show. Each hall is their own team, and whoever wins the most events, won a gold tv this year. Because oru hall is in the basement under the Van Gilder side, for our talent, we put on a "Win a Date with Miss VG" And we all dressed up as the men of Corban. There was Miss VG, of course, and then her two parents, two hosts, and 9 "men." There was the typical Jock, two nerds, a security guard, a preppy/narcissistic skater, an emo/poet/theater/artistic man, a surfer, a Farrarian (one of the men's dorms is Farrar, and they are all kinda hairy, and wear bandannas for some reason...) and the all-around-do-everything guy, which I played. This guy is that guy on campus who is in everything, like ASB, worship team, fellowship president, and he of course majors in pastoral ministry. It was really funny to play these roles and get dressed up.

So our hall didn't win the talent show, but we won the overall competition and took home the golden TV!! YAY for the Basement Babes!! Our hall above, with the golden TV.

After winning Prewitt Pageant, we all went out to Shari's at midnight to celebrate, and we kept our costumes on just for fun. Outside of Shari's was a cop car, so Kate, who played the security guard in the skit, had to pose for a picture.
Us waiting for a seat at shari's. Yes, that is the apron I made on Mickayla on the left! She played the mom in the skit, so she had a plate of cookies and wore my apron! It was pretty great.

The amazing Golden TV!

Wait....Where are we going again?

Hey guys. Tonight some of my hall mates decided to go on a late night run to Sonic to get ice cream and such. So all five of us piled into a very small two door car and drove there, but when we got there it was closed. Very sad day, because I totally wanted to try Sonic for the first time, cuz it sounds really cool. So since that was closed, we chose to go to Dairy Queen. Great! Dairy Queen has ice cream to so why not? However, we drive by and see that it is closed as well, but Jack in the Box is right next door and they have a sign that says 24 hour drive thru! YAY! so we finally catch a break--not! "Hey mister we would like 4 milkshakes--",
"Oh, our milkshake machine is broken"
"Ok, fine we don't want anything than!"
Darn town is falling apart and what's a college student to do?!? (I know what you're thinking, does this story ever end...no it doesn't)
Luckily, Walmart is open 24 hours a day, so we go there and finally we get our ice cream! YAY! I decided on a pack of fudge bars, yum...and it was so good! (btw, the subway in Walmart was open later than all those fast food places what's up w/ that?!?) But wait the story isn't over, I'm like, hey roomie, will your freezer keep these lovely fudge bars frozen? Mmm....no, my freezer isn't working now, and it's almost midnight and the lobby closes! AHHH! So I run up the stairs and cram my fudge bars into the freezer in the lobby kitchen, and realize while I'm up there that I don't have a pen to write my name on it...so I am hoping that somebody doesn't get to it before I can write my name on it tomorrow...cuz, I paid like 3 bucks for those and they were so good....but at least they aren't melting. lol. So that was my adventure tonight. Us college students got it rough!

Gobbler Race! (read the next blog first)

I couldn't put these pictures in the other post for some reason so I posted them here....sorry for the confusion.

There was also a hot dog eating contest, in which I did not participate, and this weird race thing, where the racers put their legs in the arms of giant sweatshirts and their head in the head hole, and they kinda looked like turkeys, and then raced. It was called the gobbler race or something like that. It was just amazing.

Fall Has Arrived and is in Full Swing!

Hey everyone. I have had a wonderful Saturday, even though I had to sit through a CPR class for 8 hours! I took a CPR class today for an extra credit towards my degree. It was pretty good info to have, but I the room was absolutely FREEZING! I was shivering the whole day. It was rather funny because at the very end, we talked about hypothermia, and I was going through the checklist in my mind and wondering if I could have hypothermia right then. lol. j/k. It was rather cold though.

In the feild across the street from us, there are pumpkins growing, and it is so great to see them every day! (Even though I don't really like the taste of pumkins, there is still something about them that says welcome to this happy fall day.)

This evening, after warming up with dinner and a cup of hot chocolate, I ironed my red dress and my hallmates and I headed off to the barn party! It was so much fun! We got lost on the way, but once we got there, we had a blast. I learned how to square dance, and it was so much fun! I've never been much of a dancer when it came to dancing with a partner, and maybe it was just becuase we were all beginners and we were going pretty slow, but I really caught on fast and desided that it is really fun. It's also pretty good for us single girls who don't know any guys, because you don't necessarily stay with the same guy the whole time, and if you do and don't like him, you aren't really next to eachother too much so it doesn't matter anyway!

A is for Apron

Hey everyone. I know it's been a while since I posted a blog, but things have been pretty routine around here, so the post would have been pretty boring. Last weekend was a three day weekend and I went home. I had fun hanging out with friends, and family. On Friday, I did some homework and watched a movie with a friend. On Saturday, I made this apron! I had this idea for a long time, but I hadn't found a pattern that I liked, or fabric either. So last weekend after the wedding, we stopped by a quilt shop that was going out of business and I got this pink and green fabric on sale, and it was exactly what I was looking for. Then this weekend mom helped me make a pattern for the apron, and I made it on Saturday afternoon. It was so much fun being able to sew again! (even if there were a lot of mistakes that I had to take out, lol) I really enjoyed being home again. I drove home Sunday afternoon in time to work at 6:30, and it feels like I've been going non-stop ever since! I worked tonight also, but I don't have to work until next Sunday, so now I can focus on my homework. Woohoo. Anyway, I suppose I should get going to bed or something constructive like that.
bye
